Forging conditions
Rough pieces are obtained by hot forging at a convenient temperature, then followed by an appropriate treatment to obtain required characteristics. In any case, please contact us.
Properties / Main use conditions
The addition of about 2% beryllium to copper brings to the alloy a structural hardness which enables mechanical characteristics similar to steels. Sometimes (when forged, annealed, hardened and tempered), tensile strengh can reach 1500 MPa. But, comparatively to steels, it has following advantages : good electrical and thermal conductibility, resistance to wear and corrosion, non-magnetism, non-sparkling properties.
Main applications
Electrical contacts and breaker springs, diaphragms, caps, and also tools (hammers, screw-wrenches, brushes, pneumatic drill heads, etc…) used in mines, powder works, drilling platforms, methane tankers.
